Yesterday's rain still sits in the front yard lawn chair
that needs to be thrown out soon.
Ripped red and stained beige looked better
last summer.
Someone will probably sit in it later today and stand
wishing
they hadn’t done so at all.
Summer storms have started
to move in a couple cities over.
Today
is light rain.
Not the kind to be upset about. The kind
the cows still eat their dinner in
and the frogs lay out and
sunbathe under.
Sometimes, it's this kind of rain
that teaches me not to worry about
damp pants –
but to sit in the front yard
and wait
for the lightning.
