I
in the milky pond
frogs mating—
devilish eyes!
II
dewdrops crown the frog’s head
greedy gulps of moss
trapped under the canoe
III
though the frog shivers
the rain does not
stop
IV
limping frog
leaves a trail
of sated leeches
V
frog in backstroke
white belly to the sun
webbed feet ripple
Matthew Lee is a writer and editor living with cancer in Melbourne, Australia.
